Old team photo's, players, and acheivements

On June the 19th, the annual players awards and night out was held at the Owlerton Dog Stadium. Lee Myers defended his title as Players Player of the Yearhe received the Fred Allott Trophy once again(pictured). A very special award which dates back to 1975. Lee can become one of only two players to receive the trophy three times if he is succesful in the coming season. The trophy was presented to Lee by Brad Fitton Managing Director of Red Mortgage Solutions, one of the clubs premier support partners.

Scott Chamberlain picked up the Mangers Player of the Year award for 2004. Well Done Scott. Not bad for his first season with the club. Maybe Scott will pick up the top goalscorer as well next year coming second this year.

 Richard Ellson bagged the top goalscorers award for 2004 once again in his first season with the club. Richard has proven that the team needs scoring midfielders to give the team a chance of gaining promotion in the coming season.

 Bill Heritage the clubs secretary picked up the ClubMan of the Year award, and rightly so. Bill does a fantastic job every year making sure the club is well represented at all league meetings and official events. Bill binds the club together in the background and make sure the "thankless tasks" are completed well and on time. He gives the club a great foundation from which to run and treats the duties as a full time business, which running an amatuer football club is these days. Well Done Bill from all involved.Please. If you can help fill in the gaps contact us, after all its your site and your club.

:: The most amazing performance.

As part of our Hall of Fame we are trying to find the HGV team who have made the "Most Amazing Performance". You can send us your performance stories and votes Click here. Some of the front runners are here:

Team Manager - Nathan Griffin

Season - 2000-01

Opponents - Sheffield Lane Top

After a misunderstanding of grounds and times 8 team members turned up to the ecclesfield carribean ground to play a league fixture in February. Throwing caution to the wind the team kicked off with 9 men including the manager. They promptly took the lead through the manager Nathan Griffin 0-1 and held it until half time. The opposition scored early in the second half to level the score 1-1, Villa defended resolutely for 15 minutes and the then keeper Steve Hible pulled off the best amateur level save we have ever seen to keep the scores level. Having taken the hearts of the opposition with 9 men Villa pushed forward and scored two goals in 15 minutes courtesy of Paul Birchall and the manager Nathan Griffin again to win the game 1-3 away. Incredible.
