SUPER RAFFLE RESULT
Representitives of High Green Villa FC were delighted to present Steven and Angela with the £2500.00 prize on 4th December after winning the Super Raffle. Steven and Angela are planning their wedding and honeymoon arrangements for next year and mentioned how timely the win was. Have a wonderful year guys from all at High Green Villa FC.
And the Winner is.... The High Green Villa FC Super Raffle Draw, was drawn on Thursday Night at the Boardwalk Restaurant,
Valley Centertainment.
Many people turned up to see who was going to be £2500.00 better off. Over 300 people had paid £10 to enter into the draw and the lucky ticket was drawn by an independant volunteer who was present in the restaurant.
Steven Cox of 37, Greenhead Lane Chapeltown Sheffield became the winner and £2500.00 richer. Steven was informed by telephone and at first didn't believe his luck, so much so he had to be summoned from the shower in order to confirm he had the winning ticket. It is hoped that the Green Un newspaper will be featuring Steven's win in their newspaper shortly.
Well Done Steven and thank you everyone for making the HGV super raffle a success.
Super Draw: Venue is Boardwalk Diner at Meadowhall Centretainment. Draw is being made at approx 9.00pm

Past games of the season 2004-5Very entertaining trip to Houghton
Villa were head and shoulders above Houghton main in the first 45 mins, even though they went one nil down with a soft goal after a defensive error by Chris Hogan. Quickly making up for the error Hogan scored from the very next corner. Villa could have then gone 4 goals ahead in the next 20mins but for saves from a goalkeeper that was very lucky to still be on the pitch. 1 - 1 at halftime villa came back out to see a revitalised Houghton, both sides creating good chances and in the end probably settling with a fair result.
Postponed games causing havoc
A very jittery stop start over the xmas period saw villa only play one match and lose that to Red Rose 2 - 1, villa are steadily sliding back into mid table after such a great start to the season. Half way through the season now and some 10 points adrift of a promotion spot.
Who planned the Xmas do?
Villa turned out the day after the xmas bash and got a real pasting 10 - 3 to Sheffield Lane Top a side they had previously beat 6 - 1 earlier in the season. Questions have got to be asked about the desicion making of the committee to have allowed such a silly thing to happen.Villa's slump: Villa have experienced the normal November slump losing the last 3 games on the bounce. Lets hope the form book run true as December normally brings a bag full of points.
Saturday stalemate: Otuo Kumpu visited Villa on saturday and left with the first point villa have given away this season. 1 - 1 being the final score. Villa were awarded a penalty which was converted by Richard Elson.
Confirmations of Major support partners announced. The final adjustments and deals were settled this week seeing the best Support Partner programme the club has ever had. Thanks go to Red Mortgage Solutions, Mag Shoe Services Limited, Revostage, Do My Nails.co.uk, The Market Inn, and Dixon Ford. This measure of support has exceeded the clubs first year targets for the "10 Year Unibond Plan" and has left it up to the players and management to acheive the first step of gaining promotion back to the Premier Division. A further incentive of a FREE bar and party was offered for a top 3 place by Chris Windle of Elizabeth Rose Inns.
The Goals just keep coming. Another comfortable win for Villa on Wednesday night against Phoenix, who were relegated from the premier division last season. Another win at home saw Villa finish up with a 4 -1 hiding of the visitors. Top of the divison spot and additions to the ever increasing goal difference were courtesy of goals from Paul Birchall (2) Richard Ellson (2). Special thanks have to go to Sheffield City Council for their efforts in bringing the standard of the pitch up to days of old. It looked as good as it has for many a year, keep up the good work.
Demolision in game two. The Villa truly demolished Sheffield Lane Top 8 - 2 in the seasons first home game, so much so that Villa actually had the final touch in both of the visitors goals as well. Goals for Paul Harpham (3) Paul Birchall (2) Scott Chamberlain (2) and Ian King (1) crowned off a very good peformance. Villa are now riding high at the top of Division 1 with a +8 doal difference. Man of the Match was Matt Jubb. Early days was the message from manager Bob Hall, who immediately turned the focus to Wednesday evenings game at home against Phoenix. Kick off 6.00pm.
Pre season fears put behind Villa in first game. Just the start the Villa needed. AFC Cutlers 0 - 2 High Green Villa. Goals from the last two seasons top goal poachers Richard Ellson and Danny Hiner secured the win for Villa. A comfortable display where manager Bob Hall decided on power and experience, rather than youth. Good individual performances all round, but noteably from Danny Hiner, Rob Heritage and Matt Jubb.
Tickets for Brand New Training Tops. The Super Raffle sales are going well and a number of team representatives have handed back all their stubs and money already and collected their brand new Red Mortgage Solutions Training Top. Well Done, come on you guys who are lagging behind.
Praises ring in. It has come to our attention that a very nice letter was written to the FA about the hospitality recieved by 1st Division Champions Hollinsend FC. The very kind words were put to paper by an Hollinsend official who was so pleased by the hospitality the team recieved back at the Market Inn, he decided to write with comments explaining how High Green Villa FC had set an example all teams in the league should use as a benchmark. Our thanks go back to all at Hollinsend FC for their very kind gesture and also to Chris Windle of Elizabeth Rose Inns and the staff at the Market Inn for their fantastic service to the club. The Good Run is Definately over now: Villa were trashed 5 - 0 this weekend by The Wetherby, Villa saw Danny Hiner dismissed after 50 minutes while losing 2 - 0. Fighting and gambling to get back into the game saw Villa leak another 3 goals.
First Loss of the season After a great start Villa were finally beaten by Georgia Pacific 2 - 4 Villas goals coming courtesy of Paul Birchall and Ian King
Villa try new things in the Cup: In the absence of some regular players and both the Manager and Assistant Manager, Villa have exited both cup competitions at the first hurdle, losing 3-0 to The Wetherby and losing on Penalties to Grapes Roy Hancock. It should back to normal business on Saturday though when the league campaign starts again at home to Swinton.
Clear at the top: A win on Saturday against promotion hopefuls Edlington saw villa come out 2 - 0 victors. Goals from Chris Leadwood (1) and Richard Elson (1) Penalty. The first half was somewhat frustrating although the Villa defence soaked up many set pieces from the visitors. The second half saw Villa comand the visitors and noteable performances included Mark Butcher (MOM) and Jamie Cooke. The Villa had two brithday boys on show on the day in Matt Jubb and Richard Elson.
Not another Draw: The flying start to the season brought an unfortunate hiccup. Villa were held at home by Frechville Fc 2 -2 in what was the last mid week game of the opening phase. The goals came courtesy of Richard Elson (1) and Ian King (1). Mat Jubb was unfortunate to score his second own goal in 3 games.

Hi,Congratulations
On your website, and your success over the Years... I’ve always had a good feeling for High Green, I am 76 years old, and a Birdweller, but it was about 1946/47 that I played, I cant remember now but in 1942 I worked at Pilley and had many work mates from High Green, I played football then in the 16/18 league and in the War years there were not many teams, so we played High Green Villa in a friendly, can’t remember the result, but it was competitive. I am only 5 ft 2 now, so imagine how tall I was then, I played Right Wing, (the crowd used to shout come on matthews,) but I always wanted to be a goalie really, so my chance came in between seasons, and practice matches at Birdwell rec, they let me play in goal, and at centre forward was a Chap called chapple, and he did not score past me, but he said to me come up to High Green and have a game in the park, so i did and played in Goal, must have impressed them, in spite of my size, because then the, gentleman who was in charge asked me to sign and play for them, ( I tell you its true, My brother married a lass from High Green called Betty Lakin, they have now both passed on, I am also thankfull to High Green for the good times I had and the fun on satutday nights, in the 40,s. From now on , I will follow your fortunes..good luck, from a Birdwer.
Some of the names from the past are: Dransfield,Lakin,Lodge,Dixon,Rolling,Armitage,Gilbert Blanchard,(who we both nearly got killed with a runaway pony at pilley) Cheers n Beers, I learned to sup in High green. Oh Yes and watching the lads throw NAILS on a Sunday morning in High Green ,cos they werent allowed to play with Darts.
Thanks very much for the memories Bob. It’s lovely to hear from you!

A big THANK YOU: The Villa's pitch has been in the best condition we have witnessed for some years this season, and its all down to the hard efforts of the Parks and Woodlands Dept. at the City Council. They have done a great job in preparing the surface this year. Keep up the great work. THANKS.
Above the big boys. Entering "football club" turns up some impressive results when entered into any uk based search engine. (i.e. Freeserve, Aol, Alta Vista, Lycos,MSN, Ask Jeeves) try it for yourself.
